Wild species of RICE contain rich genetic resources that can be useful for improvement of rice cultivars and productivity. For example they have genes for high production, resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses. These and other useful genes can be introgressed into the cultivated rice in order broaden its gene pool. So, Iam interested in Molecular characherization of the wild rice species of Tanzania to allow the conservation, selection and use of such genetic resources in rice breeding.

I want to molecularily identify & characterize microbes, & study the physico-chemical properties of traditionally produced butter from butter shops, open markets & at smallholders level. Because 98% of butter consumed in Ethiopia comes from smallholder production. There are no hygienic standards followed during production, handling, transportation & marketing. So, there are several harmful microbes. The beneficial microorganisms should also be studied. Butter adulteration also needs emphasis.

The Sahel is susceptible to droughts, degradation and desertification leading to erosion and lost of species diversity. On-farms introduction of suitable trees can be a possible solution. My interest is developing improved seeds for the domestication process. Specific objectives include:- Phenotypic and genetic characterisation, Pattern of genetic structure within populations for economic and adaptive traits, heritability estimation and predicted genetic gains, selection for deployment, and vege

I’m interested to promote a strategy to fight women poverty in rural areas. It consists to develop local chicken breeding micro-project by helping them with micro-credit. This micro-credit will help them to build their henhouses and to begin their livestock activities. After 18 months, every beneficiary from the first group will reimburse a part of her credit (50%). With this money, we will be able to finance other women. I am a rural development Engineer and an association president.

Increased Rice Productivity through introduction of high yielding drought tolerant pests and disease resistant varieties will reduce rice deficit in Kenya. Rice is a staple food and is ranked 3rd after maize and wheat and its consumption is increasing three fold. During Agricultural product value chain analysis for rice. It was established that at production level lack of suitable rice varieties is one of the constraints contibuting to low production. There is need to acquire, evaluate varieties

My research interests are researching on low cost imputs for detection and diagnosiss of plant diseases on field and horticultural crops. Interests also on identifying rhizobium strins that are locally adapted to legumes for crop yield prodution. The main challenge is using molecular techniques for pathogen detection and selection of resistant varieties.

We are developing a hands-on conservative/ integrated training facility for small scale farmers in northern Nigeria. Thier small holdings makes it imperative for them to practice environmentally sustainable practices to enhance their yields and support their land. We are currently training our tariners in use of fish pond effluent for vegetable fertiliser and also looking at Biochar farming methods. We are looking for opportunities for capacity building for our staff
